Breaking Cold Wave, January 31-February 5, 1996
A severe cold wave that affected the United States during the last
days of January and the first days of February 1996 was of historic
proportions in the Upper Midwest. In four states (Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota,
Wisconsin) this appears to be one of, if not the, coldest weather events

July 1999 Heat Wave During the last two weeks of July 1999, the Midwest experienced a lengthy
series of days with temperatures in excess of 90F. Before it was over,
