Data - Hourly data
Hourly Reporting Stations. Many elements are available from
1st order stations that record hourly measurements
(NWS offices and airports), but there are fewer hourly reporting
stations than daily reporting stations in this region. A standard
report of digital hourly variables is received in real time,
including air temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity,
sea level pressure, wind speed and wind direction. These real-time
data have not undergone the rigorous NCDC quality control process.
A more complete set of digital hourly elements derived from
NCDC TD-3280 includes all the standard report elements noted
above, plus cloud types, sky cover, horizontal visibility, prevailing
weather, and some modeled variables such as solar radiation and
potential evapotranspiration. These data are updated about 9
months after the year ends, and exist for many locations since
the late 1940s.
