Thunderstorm Data for the U.S. This CD-ROM contains historical (1901-1995) thunderstorm-day counts for 734 cooperative observer stations and 121 first order stations across 47 states (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Rhode Island). The data underwent extensive testing for quality. Also included is a table of all 956 thunderstorm-caused catastrophic events in the U.S. from 1948 - 1998 that caused more than $1 million in property losses. This CD-ROM was created by Changnon Climatologist, Mahomet, IL. The project was funded under grant NA96GP0455 from the Office of Global Programs of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
